The Miss Tombigbee Pageant was established in 2001 as an official preliminary pageant for the Miss Alabama Pageant and the Miss America Pageant Organization. The pageant is currently held on the campus of The University of West Alabama. Competition for the Miss Tombigbee crown is open to all young women who meet the following Miss Alabama criteria:

  • Be between the ages of 17 and 24
  • Be a United States Citizen
  • Meet character criteria set forth by the Miss America Organization
  • Must live, work or attend school in one of the following counties in Alabama: Baldwin, Blunt, Calhoun, Choctaw, Clarke, Dallas, Etowah, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Marengo, Mobile, Monroe, Perry, Pickens, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, Washington, and Wilcox
In order to be crowned Miss Tombigbee, contestants will compete in a private interview with the judges, swimsuit, talent, and evening gown. There may also be an onstage question for the contestants to answer during the pageant.
