On July 7, 2007 Kimberly Kirby of Hueytown, Alabama was crowned Miss Tombigbee 2008. Kimberly won the swimsuit preliminary award as well as tied for the talent preliminary award with her pop vocal presentation.

Kimberly is a senior Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education Major at the University of Montevallo. Her personal platform issue is Deaf Education Awareness. Kimberly began her study of deaf education when she was in the tenth grade at Hueytown High School . On a whim, she enrolled in an American Sign Language course. Next thing she knew she was engrossed in research on deaf culture, American Sign Language, and education for the deaf. It was at this point in her life that she knew she would have a career in deaf education and be committed to it for life.
